Greg Norman “doesn’t” win the British Open, but watch out…
0 Comments Published July 20th, 2008 in A+Featured Golf News, Golf News, greg norman.Greg Norman doesn’t win the British Open today but it was a exciting 1st 3 rounds watching one of my golfing heroes battle it out at 53 years old.
What’s amazing is that Greg has just broke through his 15-year old dryspell of bad rounds. Heck, he is now officially playing the next year’s Masters.
If Greg Norman practiced before this week’s Open, he might have won by 5 or 10 shots. Even with Tiger Woods around, he probably would have won for sure.
Now, it’s up to Greg Norman to believe in himself again and win couple more majors before he really “retires” from major golf.
The same couldn’t be said about Rocco Mediate because it’s different.
Heck, Greg Norman is capable of breaking any of that old-age records. He just proved it to us.
Maybe his last round 77 wasn’t one of his best but I will be waiting for some more top finishes from the former #1 golfer of the world.
Congrats to the winner but I think Greg Norman probably “won” in his terms, outlasted every one of the best golfers of the world.
I look forward to couple more 54-hole leads on Sunday from Greg.

Johnny Miller - “looks like the guy who cleans Tiger’s swimming pool.”
0 Comments Published June 24th, 2008 in Golf News.Ooops, looks like Johnny Miller got in trouble for saying that Rocco Mediate looks like the guy who cleans Tiger’s swimming pool.
I was watching the whole thing and I don’t think it was meant to be rude, Johnny was actually rooting for Rocco Mediate and I was about to shoot the TV because of that.
Well, Johnny was wrong though, Rocco doesn’t clean anyone’s swimming pool, maybe just his clubs.
As Mediate held a one stroke lead over Tiger during the fourth round last Sunday, Miller said he “looks like the guy who cleans Tiger’s swimming pool.” He also said, “Guys with the name ‘Rocco’ don’t get on the trophy, do they?”

Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate Ties for Lead at U.S. Open!
1 Comment Published June 15th, 2008 in Golf News, Golf Predictions, Tiger Woods.Wow, what a great finish by Tiger to hole an 8 footer to tie with Rocco Mediate and force an 18-hole playoff.
I didn’t know Rocco would finish up at the top but he sure did and I must say it’s more luck than his skills.
Tomorrow will be another exciting match to watch as Tiger beats Rocco. I wouldn’t even give Rocco a second chance for a one-on-one dual with Tiger.
On the side note, I hit the ball great today, here’s today’s swing keys:
1. Setup to the target parallel. I can’t believe how many times I start aligning myself to the right of target and get into lots of unnecessary swing flaws. Setup is probably the first thing before even trying to mess with your swing.
2. Feel the cocking of wrists after takeaway.
3. Really feel the lower body and upper body working together on the downswing, holding the lag and extending all the way after impact.
4. Feel like doing a 2-handed basketball pass while holding the lag. It almost feels like you are flinging your wrists about 50 yards right of the target.

U.S. Open - Tiger goes Birdie, Eagle to finish at Top!
1 Comment Published June 15th, 2008 in Golf News, Golf Predictions. As predicted, the top players of the world came up to the top except for Stuart Appleby, who had a miserable day shooting an 8 over par, 79.
On the bright side, Tiger managed to birdie and eagle the last two holes to finish up at the top.
Mostly likely Tiger will probably win tomorrow at this point but it’s still hard to tell if his knee will keep up.
As predicted, Rocco Mediate goes on to make a lot of mistakes near the end, where he goes about 4 over par over 3 holes. With Rocco’s second-grade swing, there’ no way he will win the U.S. Open. Don’t call me biased but his swing is something not to look at.
And if Tiger doesn’t win, it might be a crap shoot of players who tee off early and get to play the course before the greens get hard and fast.
I still think Tiger might win tomorrow, although I want him to. There’s just too much knee trouble but who knows, he might get real lucky like his chip shot on the 17th today.

Tiger Shoots 30 on the Back Nine and tied for Second at U.S. Open
0 Comments Published June 13th, 2008 in Davis Love III, Golf News, Golf Predictions, Stuart Appleby, Tiger Woods.Well, I spent the whole day watching Tiger and Phil battle it out. Tiger did well on the back nine by shooting a nice 30.
What’s my predictions for tomorrow?
Well, I think it will be about the same with Tiger and Stuart staying on the leaderboard while everyone else drops off the top.
I think time has proven over and over that you need game to stay on top, not just for the first 2 days.
Expect players like David Love III to climb more on top and players like Rocco Mediate fall to mediocracy. (No pun intended Rocco, but you ain’t got the stuff to go all four days.)
