Nick Watney Swing Analysis!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I’ve played with Nick Watney during my junior golf years many times, it’s finally good to see Nick climbing up the PGA Tour leaderboard.  One thing I like about Nick is his personality, he has a pretty easy-going demeanor, perhaps why he kept going at it.

Anyways, let’s take a look at his swing and yes, it hasn’t changed much since I played with him like 15-16 years ago.

At address, Nick sets his spine angle slightly, like ever pro does, grip is a bit on the stronger side.

At takeaway, you can see that Nick extends his arms well, nicely rotated.  Perhaps his clubface is a bit closed, he might hit a bit of a draw here.

Nick looks really good here, nicely balanced.

Nice top of the backswing, everything well poised, the back facing the target.

At transition, you can see Nick moves well into his left side, a move reminiscent of Ben Hogan indeed.

At impact, Nick has squared his clubface pretty darn well, he seems to have dipped his body a bit, could be a bit more “up” but still, great impact position.

Nick extends both of his arms well after impact as seen here.

And nicely transferred weight to his left foot.

I know Nick Watney will be winning a few PGA Tour tournaments this year, don’t forget to root for him! WOOTWOOT!

Arnold Palmer Invitational Jason Gore at the Top 5 Under!

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Jason Gore is leading at the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational at 5 under par while Tiger struggled to a 2 under par with a double-bogey in the round.

It’s too early to tell if Jason Gore can hold on to the lead this weekend, nevermind even Friday but one thing for sure, I think Tiger has a chance at winning this tournament.

Other notables include Tim Herron, who finished at 4 under while Nick Watney finished at 3 under.

Of course, there’s many other notable players near the top so it will be very interesting to see who is playing their best golf this weekend.

My Predictions?

Well, Stuart Appleby is looking pretty good too but my bet will have to be either Nick Watney or Tiger Woods.  I have a pretty good predicament on this game of golf so let’s see if I can turn out right this weekend.

Arnold Palmer Invitational This Weekend!

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Well, it looks like it’s going to be an exciting weekend again, Tiger will be playing at Arnold Palmer Invitational.

I’ve been really busy with a bad flu this week but heck, I will be enjoying golf for sure.

Phil Mickelson will be missing out of action this weekend by the way, while the young Nick Watney will be contending.

My favorites are probably Tiger Woods, Nick Watney, and Paul Azinger.  Those are my “favorites” and might be lucky if any of them win, although I think Tiger might have a good chance since he’s “warmed” up through couple practice rounds.
