My Swing is getting Too Long!

Well I hit the ball great today, except I am really overswinging slightly.  I am not sure that’s because I’ve been doing some hardcore stretching exercises at the gym or if I am simply overswinging.

The funny part is that, I try to swing 1/2 swing really, and I end up going over parallel.  (You can see my practice swing that it’s clearly 1/2 swing but when I hit the ball, it goes way over)

Anyways, it’s a lot of fun to analyze my own swing and make fun of it, let’s do it.

At the top, My wrists are really cocked over 90 degrees, about 120 degrees.  I really think it’s due to my stretching exercises at the gym.  (I will do a post on some great gym exercises soon, I’ve been lazy I know…)

Well, the only “bad” part about the backswing is that my weight hasn’t really shifted to the right.  But this is okay as I’ve been experimenting with stack and tilt swing, which says you shouldn’t shift weight to the right.

FYI, my swing fault used to be that I sway too much to the right so I decided on keeping the weight nearer the center now.

FYI, Ben Hogan used to swing like this, no weight shift to the right what so ever.  Well, with the recent uprise in stack and tilt swings, I might just keep it this way since I am hitting the ball well from this position and I feel more stable.

At halfway down, I have kept my “lag” pretty good, almost like Ben Hogan… hehe…  Btw, I don’t want this much lag but it simply won’t go away…darn it.

At impact, I do have a nice extension, my hands feel a little “too early” for my standards but still, I hit this 3 wood about 275 yards so I can’t complain.  (I do like this picture, it looks good…)

After impact, my hands and arms kinda fold early but I think it’s okay since I’ve hit the ball already.

If anything, I’d try to keep my right feet down more but I don’t try to force that either.

Forcing stuff in golf is the worst, especially if you are trying to score.

At finish I am doing good, maybe I could have more weight to the left foot but I hit this nice 275 yard fade so… (Hey, looks like I got a new fan!)

Well, since I took up golf again after about 6 months of layoff starting about a month ago, I can’t expect much from my golf swing but it DOES look decent.

The only thing I can’t figure out is how to not over-swing.  Well, I am not overswinging technically, my wrists are too flexible…

I decided to just play with my flexible wrists rather than trying to shorten it at this point as I’ve been trying to shorten it for 3 days without luck.

Sometimes, you just make best of what you’ve got.  That’s golf.
