Mickey Wright Driver Golf Swing Analysis!
Published June 5th, 2008 in Mickey Wright, Swing Tips, swing analysis. The funny thing about golf is that people talk about this and that new golf swing concept when in fact, it isn’t new at all.
Today, we will look at Mickey Wright, the greatest women golfer of all time, and look at how similar her swing is to Tiger Woods. (or is it the other way around?)

At takeaway, notice the full extension of Mickey’s arms and club, just perfect. Look at how well she maintains the “triangle”.

At top of her swing, Mickey’s shoulder are about 110 degrees to the right, pretty much the standard and her club is pretty much parallel. Notice how her left shoulder is over her right knee, sign of good weight transfer to the right side.

On the downswing, Mickey does “dip” a little. Well even Tiger “dips”, there’s practically few golfers who doesn’t dip at all on a driver swing.
But notice how well Mickey’s kept her “lag” and her weight shift back to the left side. The main thing to notice is that she “looks” very very stable. If you took the club and the arms out, she’d just look like she was bending over while standing.

Mickey’s impact is perfect, just like Tiger or Ben Hogan. But notice her right foot, it stays down just like Ben Hogan. (You gotta be very flexible to do that)

At finish, Mickey Wright is standing nice and tall, in perfect balance.
If you look at the key parts of Mickey’s swing and key parts of the top tour pros today, you will see no difference in their impact position. It’s because golf has not changed for last 100 years. Our equipment might have gotten better but the consistent winners seemed to share a secret, that of hitting the ball in the smack center of it.
A lot of TV people and golf instructors will try to “sell” you a “new” type of swing. That’s all bullshit. America is too good at selling outdated technology with hyped-marketing.
Stick to mortar and bricks, stick to golf history and you can learn a lot more.
