How to Take Slow Motion Golf Swing Videos!

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I’ve actually noticed bunch of YouTube videos online of these awesome slow motion golf swing videos and noticed that everyone was using selective Casio Exilim series, which can do like up to 6,000 frames per second.

I found that these cameras below will let you take super slow motion golf swing videos:

  • Casio Exilim EX-FC100 – These go for about $219.95 on Amazon, really good deal for capturing up to 1000 frames per second, which beats most other digital cameras for the price and purpose of taking slow motion golf swing videos.
  • Casio Exilim FH20 – This is the higher end version that can cost about $550.  If you want to use it more than a slow-motion golf swing camera, this might be a good way to invest more and get more out of it.

Here’s some videos showing the capabilities of these Casio Exlim digital cameras:

Of course, I don’t really advice to you analyze your own swing unless you are at least an 8 handicap and have some experience tinkering with your own swing.   Otherwise, you might be better off getting a real golf pro to look at your swing.

Also, you can use V1 swing software to analyze your swing.

I should be getting the cheaper EX-FC100 to test it out soon, I need one really bad, technology has gotten so good, it’s unbelievable!

UPDATE: I also found that Casio Exilim EX-FS10 does slow motion golf swing videos too, the cheapest of all at $179.

V1 Home is the best software for Golf Swing Analysis!

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

V1-Home software is the most widely used by most tour players and teachers.  You can load your own videos straight from your digital camera.  (Above is my 3 wood swing loaded onto V1 Home)

The greatest part about the V1 Home software is that you can do slow-motion and draw lines to analyze your swing.

You can also load a pro tour’s golf swing from their online database.

Here’s Adam Baddeley’s swing I downloaded:

Now the free version has everything except that you can’t do split-screen to compare your own swing to Adam Baddeley or someone else.

But you can download the free version here and study some of the best swings in golf for free!

This is definitely the one and only sofware you need to analyze your swing right.

HOWTO hit a golf ball with a cigarette in your mouth!

Here’s a simple howto for hitting the golf ball with a cigarette in your mouth.

What does this do for your swing?

Basically, it allows you to balance your swing. If you are not in balance, you will most likely lose the cigarette during your swing.

Famous golfer, Ben Hogan used to do this in practice AND in competition.

You can swap a golf pencil or anything similar if you don’t smoke cigarettes. But cigarettes work the best since they can be easily broken.

Golf invention for dumb golfers

Golf invention for dumb golfers

Here’s a useless invention for dumb golfers. That’s right. You wouldn’t use this unless you thought it REALLY was going to help you hit better shots.

Well, sometimes that could work, kinda like placebo pills…

o how can the Shoulder Stick help you? To work properly, the inventor states; “The bar is sufficient length and position so that in use, it is essentially horizontal across the shoulders and not visible to the golfer addressing the ball”. And that’s a good thing, because if you could see how goofy you look, you wouldn’t wear this backside broom handle. But back to the inventor; “However, one end becomes visible directly in front of the golfer at the peak of a correct back swing and the other end becomes visible in front of the golfer at the end of a proper follow through”. We’re not sure how effective it is but we do have a word of caution; make sure to remove the SS before entering the 19th hole, because Shoulder Sticks and doorways just don’t mix.
